1) Police sociology: the police as object of knowledge; police mythology; police function vs policing 2) socio-political contextualization of Belgian police bodies (1830-nowadays) 3) The police reform : process, stakes and structure 4) the current police scene
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
The understanding of police as an object of knowledge. The analysis of the socio-political stakes of police function and of their links with safety policies. The knowledge of main results of police sociology and Belgian and foreign empirical researches.
