Course content
Ethical concepts and principles (autonomy, consent, free will, incapacity, vulnerability…) brought into play by, amongst other things, therapy orientated human experimentation, self-experimentation, experimentation on the brain and embryo, eugenics and private eugenics, psychopharmacology. Ethical concepts and principles (animal rights, the principle of the 3 R's, speciesism, ecocentrism, biocentrism…) brought into play by, amongst other things, transgenesis and animal transgenesis, animal experimentation and vivisection, ecoterrorism.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Initiation to the ethical standards of research through an historical and critical presentation of the ethical questions raised by human, animal and environmental experimentation and by research in human sciences.
