Course content
Part 1. Presentation of various arts in their cultural contexte from the end of the Antiquity to the end of the Middle Age. Part 2. Evolution of the history of architecture, sculpture and painting in Italy (fifteenth and sixteenth centuries). Identification of the big formal and cultural options of that society, and highlighting of the contribution of its most notable artists.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Part 1. This course deals with the continuities and the breaks between the arts of late Antiquity and those of the Middle Age by highlighting the environement' influence on theme. Part 2. Putting into historical perspective and formal analysis for the art of the Renaissance in Italy and the former Netherlands.
