Course content
Part of M. Groenen: study of the iconographic themes of Palaeolithic and Mesolithic cave art, rock art and portable art in Europe.Part of E. Warmenbol: the major sites and discoveries from the Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age are presented. The focus is on Atlantic, Nordic and Northern Alpine Europe
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Part of M. Groenen: to initiate the students to reading the important iconographic categories of the European prehistoric arts.Part of E. Warmenbol: to give a general survey of Western European archaeology and material culture, from the Neolithic to the Iron Age (i.e. from the 6th to the end of the first millenium BC
