Course content
1) Brandi’s Theory of restoration Analysis and critical reflection. . 2) History of restoration (from Antiquity to the XXIst C.) 3) Specificity of restoration in painting, sculpture, architecture and archaeology (study cases and workshop visits).
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
To develop the students’ critic judgement regarding works of art to be restored. To initiate them to interdisciplinary discussions and sensitize them to the cultural heritage insisting on the incidence of the state of a work of art on the judgement one may have.
Teaching methods and learning activities
ex-cathedra + visits of restaurations workshops
