Course content
After a static analysis of the fundamentals of economics in pre-industrial societies, the course addresses in a diachronic way the dynamic changes that have gradually transformed Europe into a highly developed and creative society, which came to establish its unchallenged political, cultural and economic dominance on the world.The time frame extends from the end of the Mediterranean world, between 3rd and 7th centuries AD until the first signs of the start of European economies in the 16th century.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Goal : To study and understand how the economy and the society of pre-industrial Europe have worked, with emphasis on the permanent features.
Teaching methods and learning activities
Ex cathedra. The course includes reading three books to be determined each year.
