Course content
The courses presents the various formal grammars (regular, context-free and context-sensitive). Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG) is more closely examined and applied not only to formal languages but also to french and english data: passive, long distance depencies, clitics... Some non-configurational languages are also considered.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
This course aims at introducing to unification grammars by comparing such formalisms to the transformational approach to syntax.
Teaching methods and learning activities
The course relies heavily on application exercices relying on conceptual and technical abilities.
