Course content

Historical developments in the field of neurolinguistics - An introduction to the neurology and neuroanatomy of language - The role of the cerebral hemispheres in language processes - An introduction to the study of speech and language development - The study of speech/language disorders caused by developmental or acquired cerebral lesions or dysfunctions (e.g., aphasia, dysarthria, verbal dyspraxia, dyslexia, ...).

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

Students will be able to recognize different forms of developmental or acquired speech/language disorders.

Prerequisites and Corequisites

Required and Corequired knowledge and skills

Knowledge of linguistic terminology.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Interactive teaching by means of, among others, video demonstrations made in clinical settings. Possible participation of invited speakers.

To be communicated via the UV depending on the sudents' interactions during the classes.
