Second part: the Fatimids, the Seljuks, the impact of the Crusades, the Ayyubids, arrival of the Mongols, the Mamluks; in North Africa, we see the Almoravid and Almohads dynasties.M.DYE :First part: The historical context of nascent Islam: the Arabic peninsula and the Middle East in the 7th century AD; Muhammad's life and his spiritual experience; Structure and content of the Qur'ân; The Development of the sunna; Islam's basic tenets (tawhîd, 'adl, sharî'a, 'ibâdât, mu'âmalât...); Islamic religious sciences (fiqh, tafsîr, hadîth, kalâm).Second part: Schisms in islam; Shi'ism; Soufism and Islamic mysticism; Modern and contemporary reformism and fondamentalism
