Course content
- Theoretical tools for ethical reflection in psychology.
- Reflection and debate on some professional practices and some societal issues raising ethical questions in the field of psychology (research, psychological assessments, pharmacotherapy etc.).
- Description of the set of rules and legislation governing our profession including the analysis of the Belgian Codes of professional conduct of psychologists and its annexes.
- Field testimonials from professional practices.
- Ethical issues in psychology research
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
This teaching unit aims to raise students aware of issues related to questions of ethics and deontology in their future practice. - Ethics : think about the professional's pratice in the field of psychology, both in encounters and in society.
- Deontology : explain and problematize the limits of the framework of professional practice as well as possible situations going beyond the framework.
Teaching methods and learning activities
Lecture given by Gaétane DELIENS and Emilie CASPAR with occasional participation of external speakers. Participatory method (eg: wooclap, buzz group).
Contribution to the teaching profile
Adopting an ethical and deontological posture. - To carry out an inquiry related to ethical implications of research or intervention in psychology, taking into account the legislative framework and the main codes of ethics. - Take its subjectivity into account when understanding the phenomena addressed in the disciplines taught.
