Bachelor in Medecine
- academic year2025-2026
Enrolment in the Medicine program is conditional upon passing an entrance examination organised by the Académie de Recherche et d'Enseignement Supérieur. This exam assesses knowledge and understanding of scientific subjects, as well as communication skills and critical analysis of information. (more information: www.ulb.ac.be/enseignements/inscriptions/etudes-contingentees.html).
To prepare for this exam, the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) organises preparatory courses for students in their sixth or seventh year of secondary education who wish to pursue higher education in science and/or health fields. These courses are given on the La Plaine, UCharleroi, and Erasme campuses, as well as online, depending on the time of the year (more information: https://www.ulb.be/fr/reussir/avant-es-etudes-1).
The 2025-2026 programme is subject to change. It is provided for information purposes only.

Programme's added value
Throughout the course, particular attention is paid to developing analytical skills and human qualities, particularly through regular exchanges with patients and non-medical professionals. In addition to technical and scientific skills, emphasis is placed on the acquisition of critical thinking and informed judgement.
The campus, which is expanding rapidly, houses all the health sciences courses (with the exception of pharmacy). It boasts modern classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories and a state-of-the-art hospital with a high-performance infrastructure.
In addition, a recently refurbished library offers a wide range of documentation covering many health science disciplines, such as biomedical sciences, public health and motor sciences.
Another major advantage is the extensive hospital network in Brussels and Wallonia, which provides a wide range of high-quality placements, giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real-life context and prepare for their future careers. An observation period in hospital medicine is organised at the end of the first year of the bachelor's degree.
International / Openness
As a member of the CIVIS alliance, ULB offers the possibility of spending a week abroad by taking part in a BIP hybrid programme. In addition, at Master's level, it is possible to follow courses in the Flemish community (Erasmus Belgica), in Europe (Erasmus+) or outside Europe (Canada and Japan) in one of the Faculty of Medicine's partner universities.
