Course content
The course provides a survey of the main developments in English-language poetry from its origins to the Romantic period. The course focuses on a reading list including twenty-five representative texts from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, pre-Romanticism, and Romanticism.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
The course aims to make students familiar with major literary-historical currents in English poetry on the basis of a sample of canonical texts.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Academic lectures based on computer diaporamas.
References, bibliography, and recommended reading
Students are requested to purchase a reader of English poetry specifically prepared for the course, as well as the course's textbook of English literary history. In addition, official course notes (in the form of a PUB "syllabus") are available for this class. The reading list is communicated to students by way of the course's web site.
