Teaching methods and learning activities
The German IV course consists of an online module and a face-to-face course.
(1) The online module in Q1
The online module aims to consolidate and deepen the grammatical and lexical foundations with an emphasis on economic vocabulary and basic knowledge of German civilisation. Through the Virtual University the student has access to various multiple choice exercises, gap-fill texts, specialised vocabulary, press articles, audio and audio-visual material to practise written comprehension and expression and listening skills. In addition, during the four-month period of the online course, the teacher will organise regular meetings to ensure follow-up and to be able to discuss with the student the good progress of the individual work.
Please note: The online module is an integral part of the course unit and is a necessary and compulsory preparation for the face-to-face course in Q2.
(2) The face-to-face course in Q2
The face-to-face course, based on the language knowledge of the online module, deals with current topics and the specificities of the professional environment in German-speaking countries. Newspaper articles, audio and audio-visual material are used as teaching aids. In the course of debates, presentations and role-playing, students will be asked to put their knowledge into practice and to lead part of the course themselves.
