Course content
General concepts: main contaminants, contaminant dynamics in ecosystems, effects on organisms, monitoring, bioindicators and biomarkers, bioassays. Metals and organomettalic compounds. Polycyclic halogenated hydrocarbons: PCB, PCDD, PCDF. Pesticides. Case studies.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Introduction to general concepts of ecotoxicology and main contaminants
At the end of the course, the students will be able to interpret ecotoxicological studies and to carry out an elementary risk assessment
