Course content

An approach to the history, culture, writing systems and languages of the Ancient Near East and Egypt. Basic grammatical features and reading of small, easy texts in Egyptian and Akkadian.

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

Introduction to the basic grammatical features of Akkadian and hieroglyphic Egyptian. Knowledge of basic textual sources and bibliography of Egyptology and Assyriology.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical courses. Selected readings.
