Course content
Prose and poetry texts in classical Latin : a reading with commentary, with a focus on a precise topic or writer (e.g. slavery and freedom, Cicero etc.). Personal reading of Latin texts
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
To read Latin texts and use all components of a text - language, historical and cultural facts (to reach overall control of the studied language; to reach overall control of its literary genres and their evolution).

Theoretical lectures - reading of and commentary on the texts that are published in the handbook (see bibliography), training on personal reading with the help af an assistant.

Viva (lectures), written tests (personal reading)
Mark calculation method (including weighting of intermediary marks)
The viva and the written tests both account for half of the final note. In case of failure, students are required to retake both examinations.
