Course content
° Trademark law (Conditions of validity, refusal of registration, opposition to the registration, trademark infringements, invalidity, action against counterfeiting, relationship to competition rules, trademarks and the internet,...) ° Unfair competition law in connection with intellectual property rights (application of the law governing commercial practices and consumer protection ; supplementary protection through unfair competition law ; parasitic competition theory). These contents could vary according to the evolution of the subject.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
The course aims at allowing the students to deepen the main aspects of trademark law and of unfair competition law (in connection with intellectual property rights) by confronting them with the practice and with the analyses of the doctrine.
Teaching methods and learning activities
Course given in the form of a seminar. Application of the case-study method; group preparation of questions (mostly on current events) illustrating various parts of the course. The professor explains the principal lines of every part ; under the professor's supervision, the students make presentations of the results of their readings and researches on the specific questions posed and they confront their analysis with that of the other students.
