Course content
Overview of the critical orientations of contemporary narrative theory (narratology) and exploration of the major defining axes of narrative. A transmedial approach (literature, cinema, graphic novels) will be adopted in order to interrogate the tools of narratology (fact/fiction, diegesis, event, plot, causality, teleology...). Other theories and concepts will be mobilized (ecocriticism, postcolonial/decolonial theories, feminist narratology...) depending on the works used for analysis.

- Critical examination of the major defining axes of narrative
- To be able to situate key debates in narratology
- To provide a critical and theoretical 'toolbox'
- To apply theoretical concepts for the analysis and interpretation of literary texts
- To prepare for the conceptualization and writing of the TPM and thesis
