Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

The aim of the course is to deepen students' knowledge of Central European cultures through the analysis of literary texts and their translation. The aim is to confront students with the semantic difficulties involved in translation, thereby helping to provide them with the tools they need to think critically. The course also aims to broaden students' skills in literary criticism by applying an interdisciplinary perspective to textual sources whose understanding is enriched by an appreciation of the cultural and historical issues they raise.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The seminar is made up of lectures given by the co-teacher, literary and translational analysis exercises and presentations by members of external academic staff who are experts in the field.

Contribution to the teaching profile

Developing critical thinking skills, understanding intertextuality, mastering literary genres and their evolution, and acquiring techniques for analysing, interpreting and translating texts. One of the aims of developing these skills is to provide the tools needed for a proper understanding of a context and the issues at stake, so as to be able to embrace the various elements that make up the literary phenomenon.
