Teaching methods and learning activities
The LANG-S-212 language course will be taught face-to-face.
The lessons will be given in the classic form: the teacher can divide his group into 2 sub-groups.
The first course in September (information session) will be given face-to-face.
Without effective student participation, this course cannot achieve its aims. It is therefore essential, in the students' own interests, that they are present and participate with energy and imagination in the various types of activities.

The assessment consists of 3 parts:
a. Activities during the year: 30% During the academic year you will be asked to do homework, activities, etc. These activities are compulsory as they represent part of your final mark. These activities (or the date of the activity) will be announced well in advance on the UV. Students who have a student job will not be excused, but will have to make themselves available to do a presentation or a test, for example. If you do not hand in/present or do not meet deadlines, you will receive 0 for the activity concerned. If you are ill and covered by a medical certificate, you must send your medical certificate to your teacher within 48 hours. In this case, the weight of the written exam will be increased proportionally (so that you do not lose any points). If you hand in your medical certificate late, this rule will not be applied and you will receive 0 for the activity in question.
b. Written and oral exam in May/June: 70% (20% written / 50% oral) Written exam : Exercises similar to those for the written exam can be found in the syllabus and on the UV. The written exam will be replaced by an additional ‘compulsory activity’ if the written exam cannot be taken in person.
c. The oral exam: What you need to study: subjects seen in class: being able to give your opinion! If you are absent for part of the exam, you will be marked absent for the whole exam and you will have to sit the whole exam again in the second session. No exemptions will be granted (Art. 69 of the study regulations).
Mark calculation method (including weighting of intermediary marks)
First session
Written and oral exam in May/June: 70% (20% written /50% oral) + Activities during the academic year: 30%.
Second session
The second session This will consist of an oral examination (60%) + a written examination (40%).
The continuous assessment (= bonus point or half-point) from the first session remains valid.
Students who are absent from the written examination may be marked absent for the final mark (cf. Art. 70 §1 of the study regulations).
