Assessment and therapy methods for speech disorders.

Assessment and therapy methods for swallowing disorders.

Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)

At the end of this teaching unit, students will be able to

  • Be familiar with and proficient in voice assessment tools and methods (including PRAAT software) so they can assess a person with dysphonia;
  • Develop a therapy plan;
  • Write an assessment report for medical professionals and the insurer;
  • Be familiar with and understand tools and methods for treating voice disorders;
  • Select appropriate tools and methods for treating voice disorders on the basis of evidence-based practice (EBP).

Face-to-face theory class: the instructor engages in active teaching, combining explanatory lectures, audio/video illustrations and clinical scenarios. The course slides available on Université Virtuelle do not represent all the material covered in class, so students are encouraged to take notes. The recommended readings also help students learn more about the concepts addressed in class.

Remote SPOC (online course) on the JOBS@SKILLS platform: Evidence-Based Practice in Voice.
