Course content
The topics alternates between Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque eras, from the study of the most important works of history of music.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Objectives:
-
to introduce the student with some of the most representative works of the history of music, from the Middle Ages to the end of the Baroque era.
- to introduce student to the methodological tools and to initiate him to the methodology of the research in Musicology.

to develop critical thoughts and introduce student to the writing in musicology
At the end of the course, the student must :

know the principal musical genres of the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque era, through the analyse of some masterworks.
-
be able to analyse an early music work
-
be introduced to musicological research from the point of view of the tools as well as from the method (including the transmission of its results).
