Course content
The three domains of (inter)cultural psychology – Culture and behaviour – Individualism – Cross-cultural comparison of values – Development and enculturation – The relationship to Otherness – Identity and culture – Acculturation – Identity strategies – Intercultural communication
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
This course aims at presenting the theoretical bases of contemporary approaches to the links between culture and psychology. Social, cultural, cross-cultural and inter-cultural theoretical approaches are critically examined and illustrated through empirical research evidence. A special attention is devoted to their application in work settings. This teaching is suited for students who are not already familiar with psychology and social psychology.
