Course content
This course aims to provide students with (a) the theoretical tools to analyze development processes and (b) an overview of the practice of development through case studies. The course is divided in two sections. Part I sets the historical and conceptual framework to understand current development issues, including actors, indicators, and the impacts of globalization. Part II is organized thematically around some of the main challenges now facing the developing world.
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
By the end of the course, students will be able to discern and discuss the various schools of thought in the development field and to apply those concepts to the analysis of development policies and projects.
