Course content
Content Study of formalisms for representing information (with emphasis on the entity-relationship and relational models) and of their application to building and using information systems. Discuss recent evolutions in the light of the widespread availability of databases and web usage. Build hands-on experience with a software tool for assisting database designers
Objectives (and/or specific learning outcomes)
Goal Gain familiarity with (1) a conceptual view of databases and information systems, emphasizing information content from a user point of view rather than the physical representation of data or the construction of complex application programs, and (2) the methodology for designing information systems.
