ULB gets involved
ULB, a committed university
Because commitment and solidarity are among ULB’s core values, the University is always proactive and implements a policy of assistance and support on all major social issues.
Non-profit association ‘ULB Engagée’
Social responsibility is fully part of ULB’s missions. Non-profit association ULB Engagée was created specifically to stimulate and reinforce this role. To this end, the association develops its own initiatives and supports projects launched or backed by ULB.
Khaled al-Asaad Solidarity Funds for researchers at risk
The University has created a Solidarity Fund in order to provide support for researchers who no longer have the freedom to pursue their research in their home country, where they are threatened due to the content of their scientific work or to the opinions they have freely expressed.
ULB Welcome desk for refugees
The Welcome Desk for Refugees welcomes and accompanies all students individually in all their procedures, before, during and after registration at ULB.
Migration beyond biases
Starting from a deconstruction of the most common biases about migration, a group of volunteers from the Université libre de Bruxelles and non-profit Conseil Jeunesse Développement (‘council of youth development’) offers activities and training sessions to promote living together.
Schola ULB: A project by young people for young people!
For over 30 years, the Schola ULB Tutoring Programme has been mobilising student volunteers and training them to provide regular tutoring to primary and secondary school pupils in the Brussels-Capital Region. A project by young people for young people, with a clear objective: success for all!
The "Écoles Plurielles"
ULB is taking part in a major project to develop schools with active teaching methods in the north-west of Brussels. The aim is to offer high-quality teaching, excellence and equal opportunities for every pupil.
Substainability
ULB strongly believes that sustainability is a must, and a challenge for a globalized world; this is why it has made a number of commitments towards becoming a sustainable university in the future, taking into account current environmental, social, and economic issues.
Healthcare
ULB promotes access to healthcare for its community, with a number of dedicated services.
The BUH (Brussels University Hospital), a reference centre at international level provides general, oncological and paediatric care of the very highest quality.

Gender & Diversity
Diversity is a constant struggle. Our University’s challenge is to make sure that the progress it makes through its many initiatives persists into the future.
Quality
The Université libre de Bruxelles has developed a vision of quality based on shared values and attitudes; it promotes a culture in which its activities and missions must be suited to the institution’s purposes, adapt to change, and undergoing constant improvement.
ULB Cap 2030
ULB is aware of the many evolutions occurring in the world; the University is thinking about its future, and has developed a strategic plan. The year 2030 was chosen as the target for this collective reflection process.
