This course contributes to the Sustainable business operations pedagogical pathway of the Sustainable Development initiative that seek to provide an integrated training in sustainability.
Objectifs (et/ou acquis d'apprentissages spécifiques)
Course material and assignments provide opportunities to:
- Understand how organizations work and why people behave as they do in work settings.
- Better understand your own OB and your leadership potential.
- Improve your ability to analyze and understand organizational situations in terms of OB theories and concepts.
- Improve your leadership skills and learn how to create and maintain healthy and productive work environments.
- Learn to become a sustainability leader, who strive for inclusive and responsible organizations.
Méthodes d'enseignement et activités d'apprentissages
This course involves a mix of theoretical lectures and seminars (group work). The primary teaching method of this course is active learning. The class time will be devoted to theoretical notions, but also to discussions, debates and video illustrations of the theoretical notions taught. Each theoretical class involves a group exercise and a short quiz based on what we discussed in class.
In addition, the seminars involve continuous preparation for the final exam and business cases that draw on the theoretical classes and the assigned readings/ videos.
This course is designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of the organizational and leadership behavior. Thus, students will be assigned to work-groups who will work together throughout the entire seminar sessions.
These groups will provide a context for first-hand experience, are designed to allow each team member to achieve his or her goals and to become a more effective group member.
