Social and Cultural tourism issues

The course provides an overview of issues related to the relationship between hosts and guests in connection to cultural tourism. The course looks into definitions and concepts and analyses on the one hand how culture is transformed for tourism consumption and on the other hand how culture shapes hosts and tourists' behaviours and consumption.

The course builds on certain forms of cultural tourism and uses case studies to illustrate critically the relationship between culture and tourism.

The aim of this module is to introduce students the complex relationship between culture and tourism and develop his/her critical approach.
